movin' on up

I finally broke down and did it. My new (laptop) computer has been ordered from Dell.

Inspiron 6400, 2 Ghz Dual Core, 2G RAM, 160 GB HD, Windows Vista.

Now the wait begins....

boiled frogs

by Alexisonfire

A man sits at his desk
One year from retirement,
And he's up for review
Not quite sure what to do
Each passing year
The workload grows

I'm always wishing, I'm always wishing too late
For things to go my way
It always ends up the same
(Count your blessings)
I must be missing, I must be missing the point
Your signal fades away and all I'm left with is noise
(Count your blessings on one hand)

So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life

Poor little tin man, still swinging his axe,
Even though his joints are clogged with rust

My youth is slipping, my youth is slipping away
Safe in monotony, (so safe), day after day
(Count your blessings)
My youth is slipping, my youth is slipping away
Cold wind blows off the lake, and I know for sure that it's too late
(Count your blessings on one hand)

So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life
Can't help but feel betrayed, punch the clock every single day
There's no loyalty and no remorse
Youth sold for a pension cheque
And it makes him fucking sick
He's heating up, he can't say no

(Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh)[x6]

So wait up, I'm not sleeping alone again tonight,
There's so much to dream about, there must be more to my life.
(So wait up)
So wait up I'm not sleeping alone again tonight
Between the light and shallow waves is where I'm going to die
Wait up for me
Wait up for me
Wait up for me

hemmingway had the right idea

From brother-in-law Steve:

...um, I haven't forgot about this... What's the pub date?

No, I haven't forgotten either. The story is pretty much written.....in my head. It's just a matter of trying to find the time to sit down and put it to page. Unfortunately, recreational writing projects are rather low on the priority list these days.

So....pub date? When I get to it. ;)

you boys ever been to mex-ee-co?

From ctv.ca:

An Ontario man is dead and his wife is injured after an apparent hit-and-run accident, just two weeks after they arrived in Mexico for their vacation, CTV News has learned.

Clifford and Janette Glasier, of Chatham, Ont. had been renting a house in the country for four months until the end of April.

The snowbirds were struck in an apparent hit-and-run while crossing a main street near Lake Chapala while walking home after dinner Wednesday night.

Clifford, 67, was pronounced dead on the scene, while his wife, 55, is fighting for her life in hospital.

[....]

The death comes less than two weeks after a 19-year-old Canadian man was killed outside a nightclub in Acapulco, Mexico.

Mexican officials insist Adam DePrisco was killed in a hit-and-run accident, and a preliminary autopsy by Ontario's top coroner showed the injuries were consistent with being knocked down by a vehicle.

But DePrisco's friends and family have disputed that claim, saying he died of injuries sustained in a vicious beating.

This latest death also comes about 11 months after a Woodbridge, Ont. couple, Dominic and Nancy Ianiero, were found slain at a resort near Cancun.

Mexican authorities have been accused of bungling the murder investigation.

I wonder if the all-inclusive resorts will start to offer funerals as well.

strike a pose

We took the munchkin in for photographs a couple weeks ago to preserve for all eternity her 3 month cuteness. There was the obligatory portrait pose, as well as an adorable one depicting the hatching of our little chickadee.

Awwwww.

boop, boop!

No. You're not hallucinating.

So the past couple weeks have been busy to the point where blogging has fallen relatively low on the priority list. I'll try and get some new pictures and the like up on my flickr page today.

I've come to the conclusion that there really aren't enough hours in a day.

24 hours
- 1 (to get ready for work)
- 2 (to drive to and from work)
- 10 (at work)
- 1 (prepare and consume supper)
- 1 (to walk and attend to the dog)
- 1 (to feed, change, play with baby)
- 2 (to hold sleeping baby....and watch t.v.)
- 1 (to try and help put baby to bed)
- 5 (to sleep)
_____
= 0

As my calculations will demonstrate, life these days doesn't leave a lot of time for Internets and extra-curriculars. And those days I don't work you have to factor in family visits, doctor's appointments, shopping, household chores....and maybe a couple extra hours of sleep.

It's little wonder that I wish I was Hiro.

Of course, Jack Bauer can seem to get a lot done in 24 hours too.

auld lang syne

And so we say farewell to 2006.

I'd post some pictures of our New Year's Eve merriment, but there are none.....mainly to protect our dignity. No....not because things got so out of hand that there was a publication ban....but because our evening was so lame it's embarrassing. Welcome to parenthood I suppose. The better part of our evening was spent watching Brokeback Mountain and trying to put the little one to bed. I rung in the new year in a rocking chair beside the crib. Woo. Oh...and Hoo.

Hope everyone has a great 2007.
